Free lunches from well-known chefs are set to be served at five Manhattan corner stores and delis on Thursday.
CookUnity said the one-day pop-up will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, with stops in Flatiron, Chelsea, Midtown, the West Village and Murray Hill. The company says meals will be given away at Bari Bodega, Madison Square Deli & Convenience, New York Pizza and Cafe, Sam’s Deli, and Slice N’ Spice Deli & Grill.
The lineup includes eight chefs, among them Rocco DiSpirito, Vikas Khanna, Andrew Rea, José Garces and Miriam Milord. CookUnity said the chefs will prepare their own dishes at the stores, while chilled takeout meals and self-serve microwaves will also be available for people who want food to go.
The event is part of CookUnity’s new chef-focused campaign, bringing restaurant-style meals into neighborhood shops rather than formal dining rooms.
