Four candidates make their case for Chicago school board president
Four contenders for president of the Chicago Board of Education appeared at a forum Tuesday ahead of the Nov. 3 election, outlining how they would lead the board and respond to public scrutiny.
Jessica Biggs, Hilario Dominguez, Victor Henderson and Sendhil Revuluri are seeking the post as Chicago prepares to choose its school board through an election. The president will set meeting agendas and cast a vote when the board is split, while the board oversees the district’s chief executive, budget and policy decisions.
The forum also touched on past criticism involving the candidates. A question from 17-year-old Vaughn Webster of Ogden International High School focused on trust and accountability. Dominguez and Henderson said students should stay involved in board discussions and keep pressure on elected officials.
