Queens officials push Bulova Corporate Center to bar ICE staging

Queens elected officials are pressing the Bulova Corporate Center in East Elmhurst to stop allowing federal immigration agents to use its parking lot as a staging area.

Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and City Council Member Tiffany Cabán are among the officials seeking action. They say agents have used the lot at 75-20 Astoria Blvd., near LaGuardia Airport, before carrying out raids and detentions in surrounding areas.

The officials sent a Sept. 1 letter to Blumenfeld Development Group President Edward Blumenfeld urging the property’s management to prohibit that use of the site. They say they still have not received a clear answer. The Bulova complex includes government offices, private offices and businesses open to the public, a point that has added to local concern.
