President Donald Trump announced Friday that Katie Zacharia will replace Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary. He made the announcement on Truth Social.
Zacharia is a communications adviser and conservative commentator for Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates the platform. She briefly worked as a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson earlier this year. Trump said she had been involved in his presidential campaigns, particularly in swing states.
Leavitt announced on Aug. 12 that she would leave the post and stepped down Aug. 27. She said she wanted to spend more time with her young children. She had served as press secretary since January 2025, after working on Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
