Work has begun on the third phase of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Interstate 10 widening project between Phoenix and Casa Grande. ADOT said crews are working in both directions along 11 miles between Loop 202 and the Gila River.
The plans add a third lane in each direction and an HOV lane between Loop 202 and Riggs Road. A new Koli Road interchange is planned. Crews will also rebuild the interchanges at Riggs Road, Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and the junction of Queen Creek Road and State Route 347.
The nearly $1 billion Wild Horse Pass Corridor Project began in May 2024 with replacement of the I-10 bridges over the Gila River. ADOT says work on those bridges is due to wrap up next month. Another phase, launched in January, is widening I-10 between Gas Line Road and a point just south of State Route 387.
Construction between the Gila River and Gas Line Road is expected to begin in 2027. ADOT expects the full 26-mile project, intended to ease congestion on the commuter route, to be complete by late 2029.
