Harris County has issued a burn ban for parts of unincorporated areas after prolonged dry conditions.
County officials said the order was requested by the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office and applies to affected parts of unincorporated Harris County.
The restriction was put in place because of extended dry weather, according to officials. A burn ban can remain in effect for up to 90 days, and outdoor fires that are not allowed under the order could lead to fines or criminal charges.
The order does not cover incorporated cities unless they issue their own restrictions.
