Maricopa County Environmental Services is investigating conditions at a 95-year-old home in downtown Phoenix. The department said recent inspections documented rodent activity and places where rodents could shelter around the exterior.
Neighbors in the Frances Quarles Story Historic District describe the property as an extreme hoarding situation and say rats have been a recurring problem. Resident Liz Sisco, who has lived on Willetta Street for a decade, has raised concerns about the neighboring home.
The homeowner faces a November court hearing over property code violations. The dispute follows years of trash complaints and court-ordered cleanups, while the county’s enforcement investigation continues.
