Dallas County Health and Human Services has confirmed the county’s first West Nile virus death of the year. The resident was a man in his 60s who died from West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease.
The man had an underlying medical condition. His identity was not released because of privacy concerns, and health officials did not disclose where in Dallas County he lived.
Dr. Philip Huang, the department’s director, warned that cooler weather does not end the threat. He urged residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites and prevent mosquitoes from breeding around their homes.
