A September 28 survey counted 22 people experiencing homelessness in downtown Dallas, down from 103 in September 2025. The count, recorded in the central business district, was the survey initiative’s sixth-lowest.
A separate September crime comparison recorded 171 offenses downtown, down from 323 a year earlier. Despite that decline, the Dallas total was nearly eight times the 22 offenses recorded in downtown Fort Worth.
The homelessness count was four higher than in August, but remained well below the initiative’s reported historical average of 128. All seven of its lowest counts have occurred in 2026; the lowest was 12 in May.
