Global Water Resources lifted its precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the city of Maricopa on October 8 after repeat water tests found no E. coli.
The utility said it canceled the advisory at 2 p.m. The warning had been issued a day earlier after two preliminary tests raised concerns that the water might contain the bacteria. Global Water collected more samples on October 7 and sent them to a third-party laboratory, where repeat testing did not detect E. coli.
Customers no longer need to boil tap water for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing their teeth or washing dishes, the utility said. It also said no special steps are needed for home or business filtration systems beyond following manufacturers’ instructions. Global Water said Arizona Department of Environmental Quality rules require no further action by customers or the utility after the advisory’s cancellation.
