Golden State has agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension with guard Brandin Podziemski. The former first-round pick averaged a career-high 13.8 points per game last season.
Podziemski changed his offseason training after a visit to an NBA Players Association facility in Spain, where Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker advised him to ease off weight training. He focused instead on bodyweight exercises, functional movement and core work, then trained in Canada with Nem Ilic, who works with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Teammates and coaches say Podziemski looks stronger and quicker in training camp, despite not adding muscle. He played all 82 games last season. A further jump in his play could make the extension a bargain for the Warriors, but that remains a possibility rather than a result.
