American Idol shifts production to the Atlanta area for season 25
American Idol will move production from Los Angeles to the Atlanta area for its 25th season, with producer Fremantle confirming the relocation Tuesday.
The long-running ABC music competition is leaving one of the country’s biggest production centers for another, giving Georgia a steady returning series rather than a one-time shoot. Season 24 ran for 16 episodes.
The move comes as states keep competing for film and television work. Georgia’s film office said in late July that 280 productions filmed in the state over the last fiscal year. In Los Angeles, filming activity fell nearly 13% from April to June compared with the same period a year earlier, according to FilmLA, while California has expanded tax incentives in an effort to keep more production at home.
