Durant’s lands on a national restaurant favorites list
Phoenix steakhouse Durant’s was selected for a 2026 nationwide favorites list compiled by The New York Times food team, making it the only Arizona restaurant included.
The long-running restaurant first opened in 1950 and returned in late 2025 after a refresh by the Mastro family, which kept many of Durant’s signature dishes while adding some newer options. The old-school chophouse is known for its red leather booths and pink stucco exterior, features that were preserved during the update.
The list was assembled after 16 staff members dined around the country, and past picks were not repeated. Durant’s selection adds another national mention for Arizona dining after three state restaurants recently appeared on a separate list of top Mexican restaurants in the United States.
