Two 18-year-olds died and a 20-year-old man was wounded in an overnight shooting in Mesquite, police said. All three were members of the same family.
Officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2200 block of Amber Springs Drive shortly after midnight. Police had earlier given the location as the 2800 block of Clearwater Drive. They found the two teenagers with gunshot wounds and attempted lifesaving measures before taking them to a Dallas-area hospital, where both died.
The 20-year-old arrived separately at a nearby emergency room with gunshot wounds. Investigators believe he was involved in the same shooting. Police described his injuries as non-life-threatening and said he was being transferred to a Dallas-area hospital for further treatment.
Police said an argument over a haircut became a physical fight in which guns were drawn and shots fired. None of the three had been publicly identified as of the October 14 update. The department said it would release more information when available.
