Fulshear fires police chief after council vote
Fulshear City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night to fire Police Chief Kenny Seymour after an independent investigation found evidence he had an undisclosed relationship with a subordinate police captain.
The investigation also found money transfers and communications between Seymour and the subordinate officer, according to findings presented during a public hearing. Seymour denied the allegations through his attorney, who argued the inquiry had expanded beyond its original scope.
City Attorney Charles Zech said the hearing was held in public at Seymour's request rather than in executive session. After the vote, the city said police department operations would remain under the temporary direction of the city manager until a new chief is appointed.
Seymour had served the department for 15 years, according to the city.
