Fifteen Miami Carol City players have been suspended, and the team remains barred from postseason play after a brawl involving Georgia’s Grayson High School.
Carol City returned to the field Friday night against Miami Northwestern Senior High in Northwest Miami-Dade. Some supporters wore “Free Carol City” shirts to protest the penalties.
Principal Bridget McKinney responded to the incident by saying the school community’s history should not be defined by one episode. Carol City won the game 17-6, but the postseason ban remains in effect.
