Chicago Stars hire Vlatko Andonovski as chief soccer officer
Vlatko Andonovski has joined the Chicago Stars as chief soccer officer, the club announced Thursday.
The move comes during a difficult season for the Stars, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention and sit at 5-17-2. The club fired coach Martin Sjögren last month after less than a full season, and general manager Richard Feuz was dismissed in May.
Andonovski left the Kansas City Current last week. He joined that NWSL club before the 2024 season and later became sporting director in late 2025. Last season, Kansas City won the NWSL Shield and set regular-season records with 65 points and 21 victories, while allowing 13 goals and posting 16 shutouts.
Before that, Andonovski coached the U.S. women’s national team from 2019 to 2023, leading it to a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He also won NWSL Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2019 and led FC Kansas City to league titles in 2014 and 2015.
