The Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 on Wednesday night, winning their best-of-five Division Series in four games and advancing to an NL Championship Series rematch with the Dodgers.
Garrett Mitchell helped put Milwaukee ahead in the fifth inning, tripling and scoring the tiebreaking run. In the eighth, he caught Manny Machado’s deep drive at the wall, denying him a tying home run.
Mitchell also drove in Sal Frelick for Milwaukee’s first run. The victory ended the Brewers’ 12-game postseason road losing streak, which dated to 2018, and sent them to their fifth League Championship Series.
