Lionel Messi scored twice as Inter Miami beat D.C. United 4-0, ending a five-match winless run. His two goals took him to a league-leading 23 for the season.
Luis Suárez supplied Miami’s other two goals, while Germán Berterame recorded two assists. The result followed four draws and a loss for Miami and marked the club’s first win since a 7-1 victory over CF Montreal on Aug. 29.
Messi played all 90 minutes, four days after his farewell match with Argentina ended a 21-year tenure with the national team. It was also the first league victory for coach Cristian “Kily” González, who took charge on Sept. 16.
