The Chicago White Sox are one win from the American League Championship Series after taking a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Guardians in their Division Series. They play at home Wednesday in their first home playoff game since 2021.
The run follows three consecutive seasons with at least 100 losses: 101 in 2023, a record 121 in 2024 and 102 last year. This season, Chicago became the first team to reach the playoffs after three straight 100-loss seasons.
The White Sox have not clinched a postseason series in front of their home fans since 1906. Pitcher Grant Taylor, who saved both wins against Cleveland, told reporters Monday that fans had stayed with the team through the losing seasons and deserved a home playoff game.
