President Donald Trump said on October 10 that the decision on whether to livestream Nidal Malik Hasan’s planned December execution will be his.
The Pentagon had appeared ready to broadcast the firing-squad execution. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said it would be open to public viewing, and a Pentagon official confirmed the livestream plan on Thursday. Speaking outside the White House, Trump raised the possibility that a broadcast could deter similar attacks but did not authorize one.
The Army’s execution timetable remains unchanged. Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, supports livestreaming the execution. In a post on X, he described capital punishment as a biblical affirmation.
