Los Angeles County’s average price for regular gas rose to $6.044 a gallon after a 27th straight daily increase.
Figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service show the county average climbed six-tenths of a cent Monday, reaching its highest level since June 2. The price is up 40.2 cents over the past 27 days, 13.8 cents from a week ago, 39.4 cents from a month ago and $1.338 from a year earlier.
Across California, the average price for regular gasoline reached $6 a gallon this week. Diesel hit a record $8.15 statewide, while Los Angeles County drivers were paying an average of $8.10 for diesel.
Higher fuel costs are being linked to disruptions in energy markets tied to the war involving Iran and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy said Russian diesel export restrictions and attacks on Russian refining facilities have helped push diesel prices to record levels.
