Two South Florida Publix stores are closing in 2026 as the company prepares to replace them at the same sites. The Kendall store at 8250 Mills Dr. closed January 17; the West Palm Beach store at 828 Southern Blvd. was scheduled to close September 26.
The Kendall location, at the Palms at Town & Country shopping center, had operated there for more than 40 years. Publix plans a new supermarket in its former space. At Southdale Shopping Center in West Palm Beach, Publix spokeswoman Lindsey Willis said employees would transfer to nearby stores during the rebuild. Neither replacement has a confirmed opening date.
For affected shoppers, Publix lists the Kendall Mall store at 9041 Southwest 107th Ave. as an option. The company directed Southdale customers to Belmart Plaza at 500 Belvedere Rd., about 1.3 miles away. Both alternative stores are listed as open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
