A body recovered Wednesday morning from Buffalo Bayou was the fourth found there since Sept. 29, Houston police said. Detectives are investigating the latest death while awaiting final autopsy results.

Police officers and fire department paramedics responded around 9:20 a.m. to a report near the McKee Street bridge, on the north side of James Bute Park in downtown Houston. Sgt. Michael Casso of the police homicide division said the person appears to be a man in his early 20s. Water exposure and decomposition have prevented authorities from confirming his identity or race.

The discovery came less than 24 hours after a construction crew spotted an unidentified man in the bayou near North York Street in the Second Ward. Police have linked the deaths of two other men found shot in the bayou, but have not established a connection between those cases and the bodies recovered Tuesday and Wednesday.
