South Florida residents must register by Monday, Oct. 5, to vote in the Nov. 3 general election, local election officials said.
Anyone eligible to vote in Florida who is not yet registered must turn in a completed application by the deadline. Officials are also encouraging registered voters to verify that their details are current.
Miami-Dade's elections office at 2700 NW 87th Ave. in Doral will stay open until 11:59 p.m. Monday, with staff on hand to help people sign up. Alina Garcia, the county's elections supervisor, said young people can pre-register from age 16 to prepare for voting when they become eligible.
In Broward County, elections supervisor Joe Scott urged eligible residents to participate in the general election.
