A federal judge halted tree removal at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., after hundreds of trees were cut down at the course.
On Monday, the judge sharply rebuked the Trump administration and demanded answers about the work. She said government lawyers had disregarded her repeated warnings to provide notice before it continued, damaging their credibility.
The historic course is being considered for redevelopment by President Donald Trump. The judge’s order stops further tree removal as questions about the work remain unresolved.
