The Miami Dolphins fell to 0-5 after a 31-24 loss to Cincinnati in which quarterback Malik Willis threw two interceptions and lost a fourth-quarter fumble. Coach Jeff Hafley said the turnovers were unacceptable and called for a more consistent passing game across the offense.
Willis completed 15 of 27 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed eight times for 74 yards and a score, and led two late touchdown drives. Asked whether Willis needs to make safer decisions, Hafley said he would review the film before giving a firm assessment.
Miami also reached the Bengals’ 1-yard line but settled for a field goal after losing ground on a series that included a Willis sack. Hafley said the team would examine its ball-security problems during the bye week, adding that coaches must do a better job of preparing Willis for those situations while the quarterback must protect the ball.
