Shohei Ohtani will remain in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, manager Dave Roberts says, but he has been moved from fourth to sixth in the batting order. Kyle Tucker takes the fourth spot.
The change comes with the Dodgers trailing the Milwaukee Brewers by two games and Ohtani struggling at the plate. Through six postseason games, he has three singles in 20 at-bats, with no RBIs and seven strikeouts. Sixth is the lowest position he has held in a starting lineup in his career.
Ohtani spent roughly two weeks on the injured list late in the regular season with left knee and right biceps pain. Before the division series, he told reporters he did not feel fully healthy but believed he could play through it. Roberts has said he planned to discuss what would be best for Ohtani and the team.
