Humans First, a conservative group opposed to AI, ended a tour of 35 cities in 28 states in the Bay Area, taking its American-flag-wrapped bus to the offices of Nvidia, Meta, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.
Amy Kremer chairs the group. A Republican National Committee member from Georgia who was active in the tea party movement, she spoke outside OpenAI’s Mission Bay headquarters about her concerns over chatbots’ effects on children. She also raised questions about jobs and rural communities. Kremer cited cases in which families allege chatbots contributed to teenagers’ suicides; those claims remain allegations.
Humans First received seed funding from a San Francisco AI safety nonprofit. About a dozen members spent nearly a month traveling across the country to warn about AI risks. Kremer has led political bus tours before and helped organize the Jan. 6 rally where Donald Trump spoke before his supporters stormed the Capitol.
