A student at Davis High School died after a medical emergency during a physical education class on Wednesday, Aldine Independent School District said.
The emergency occurred in the school gymnasium. Staff provided assistance and contacted emergency medical services and the student’s parents, the district said. First responders took over the student’s care when they arrived.
The student was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and pronounced dead there. School officials did not release the student’s name.
The district said counselors and support staff are available for students and staff affected by the death.
