METRO Police unveiled a mobile command center at Moody Park on Oct. 8, the department’s first location for the new unit.
The RV-style Mobile Operations Command Center gives officers space to meet with the public, take reports and coordinate their work. It has workstations, communications equipment and a camera system with live surveillance and drone capabilities. The department says the unit will help bring services to areas where they are needed rather than keep resources in one place.
Police Chief Ban Tien said the unit will likely stay at Moody Park for up to two months. Its next location had not been announced.
