Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick intercepted Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent on Sunday, ending New York’s NFL-record interception drought.
The streak stretched across more than 20 games, 643 pass attempts, 83 regulation quarters and 1,004 days. Fitzpatrick made the play with just under 12 minutes left in the second quarter and returned the ball 27 yards, giving the Jets possession at the Bears’ 34-yard line.
New York’s previous interception came in its final game of the 2024 regular season, when Ashtyn Davis picked off Miami quarterback Tyler Huntley twice. The Jets then went through the entire 2025 regular season without an interception, becoming the first team to do so since the NFL began tracking the statistic in 1933. It was also their first interception under head coach Aaron Glenn.
The Jets turned Fitzpatrick’s takeaway into a field goal but lost 23-12, falling to 1-3.
