Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr and Tom Segura are set to headline the inaugural Fastball Comedy Festival at Sloan Park in Mesa on Oct. 17 and 18.
Burr and Segura are scheduled to headline Saturday night, with Chappelle closing the festival Sunday evening. Organizers expect about 15,000 fans each day. The main stage will sit at second base, with seating across the infield, while a second stage beyond the outfield will feature local stand-up comics.
Burr said the festival will be his first performance in Mesa. Nearby, performers at the Bridge Improv Theater hold comedy shows on Friday and Saturday nights. One of them, Jess Klemm, hopes the festival encourages more people to attend live entertainment.
