The 25th Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival opens Friday in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, with large crowds arriving for the first day. The free event runs through Sunday.
Fifteen performers are set to include Dolly Parton themes in their concerts. The lineup also features Robert Plant, an original member of Led Zeppelin, and Emmylou Harris.
For longtime fans who wish they had seen Parton perform at the festival 21 years ago, the tributes carry a particular meaning.
