The Golden State Valkyries beat the defending champion Las Vegas Aces 83-81 at Chase Center on Wednesday, taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five playoff series. They can advance with a win Friday in Las Vegas.

Golden State held on after surrendering a 17-point lead. The team is 4-0 at home this postseason, following a league-best 17-5 home record in the regular season. It has lost its only playoff road game so far.

As the highest remaining playoff seed, the Valkyries would win the 2026 WNBA title if they keep winning at Chase Center, even if they lose every remaining road game. But they must first finish the series against Las Vegas. If it reaches a fifth game, the decider will be at Chase next Wednesday.

A series win would send Golden State to the Finals against either Atlanta or New York. The Dream lead that series 2-0; the Valkyries would host the first two Finals games and, if needed, Games 5 and 7.
