The Golden State Valkyries overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Dallas Wings 77-73 on Friday night, winning the deciding Game 3 of their first-round WNBA playoff series.
At Chase Center in San Francisco, Gabby Williams scored 19 points and put Golden State ahead with a jumper at 1:17. With 13.1 seconds left and the Valkyries up one, coach Natalie Nakase successfully challenged a call that had awarded Dallas possession after a Williams miss.
Veronica Burton added 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Golden State. Dallas had led 53-37 in the third quarter, and Arike Ogunbowale finished with 30 points for the Wings.
The Valkyries’ first playoff series win sends them into a best-of-five semifinal against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. Game 1 is Sunday at Chase Center.
