Port of Long Beach records its busiest August
The Port of Long Beach moved 919,992 twenty-foot equivalent units in August, its busiest August on record, the port said.
The total was 2% higher than a year earlier and ranked as the fifth-busiest month in the port’s history. Imports rose 3.6% to 456,100 TEUs, exports increased 4% to 99,754 TEUs, and empty containers slipped 0.39% to 364,138 TEUs.
Through the first eight months of 2026, the port handled 6,678,078 TEUs, up 1.3% from the same period last year. Port officials announced the August figures alongside Capt. Stacey Crecy, commander of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach.
The port said CEO Noel Hacegaba is expected to discuss the factors behind the August results during the next Supply Chain Insight media briefing on Wednesday.
