A 16-year-old boy died after being found seriously injured on a road in San Tan Valley, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said. He was airlifted to a hospital and died the following night.
Deputies said a vehicle struck him on Murray Grey Drive near Empire Boulevard and Gary Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. His injuries were consistent with being run over, but investigators are examining whether he had other injuries.
Authorities said the boy knew three other boys who were taken into custody for questioning and later released. Depending on the investigation's outcome, they could be taken into custody again. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at 520-866-5111 and ask for Detective Ramon Gonzalez.
