Eight people, including two children and a woman who was eight months pregnant, were fatally shot at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, police said. The gunman was also found dead and appeared to have taken his own life.
Police were called Friday afternoon after witnesses reported seeing a man fire a gun and enter the house. Officers found two women dead outside and the remaining victims inside. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said investigators reviewed footage showing the women, ages 51 and 37, seeking help from neighbors before the gunman came outside and shot them.
The children, ages five and one, were found on the first floor. Two other women, ages 24 and 44, and two men, ages 19 and 21, were found upstairs and in the stairwell, along with the gunman. All but one of those who died were related, Lorah said.
Investigators have not established a motive. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro offered state support to the Erie community.
