Two people were found dead outside a home on Panoramic Way, near the UC Berkeley campus, after gunshots were reported Friday morning, Oct. 2. Police found a man and a woman in their 60s on the block that straddles Berkeley and Oakland.
Property records and people close to the couple indicate they were Bryan Walker and Michelle Min-Walker, the married founders of the Berkeley-based clothing brand Bryn Walker. Oakland police, who are leading the investigation, have not confirmed the victims’ identities or said who fired the gun. A firearm was found at the scene, Assistant Chief Casey Johnson said. No one was in custody, but police said there was no threat to the public. Investigators had not ruled out a murder-suicide.
Min-Walker’s brother said Walker was deeply in debt and that the family had been seeking mental health treatment for him. The couple founded Bryn Walker in the early 1990s; the brand has Bay Area stores and is sold by retailers nationwide.
