Monroe County investigators have identified the woman they knew for 27 years as “Cinnamon” as Cumie Doylene McCutcheon, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday. DNA research helped establish her identity, and a test from her son confirmed it, deputies said.
McCutcheon was 56 when her body was discovered in September 1999 aboard a boat moored off Key West. Investigators could not determine her name at the time and eventually ran out of leads.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement informed Keys detectives this year that DNA research had connected the remains to McCutcheon, according to the sheriff’s office. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office also worked on the case.
