Miriam Yilian De La Rosa, 42, was booked into jail early Friday on three animal cruelty counts after Hialeah police investigated videos that appeared to show her abusing a dog.
Police said they began investigating after receiving a report about a dog at an apartment complex in the 900 block of East 26th Street. In surveillance footage released by the department, De La Rosa is outside with three small dogs, two in a stroller and one on a leash. The leashed dog gets loose; after catching it, she appears to hold it by its legs.
Another video appears to show her repeatedly slapping a dog on the head in an elevator. Police said investigators reviewed the evidence and identified De La Rosa as the person involved.
Miami-Dade Animal Services took custody of all three dogs for safety and medical evaluation, police said. At a Friday court appearance, a judge granted De La Rosa pretrial services with an alternative bond of $7,500.
