Oakland police arrested a man suspected of trying to take two children from strollers near Lake Merritt on Monday morning. Officers are investigating two separate attempted kidnappings and assaults.
Police said the incidents happened before 9 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Harrison Street. Investigators and one child's mother said the man first tried to take her child, then ran away and attacked a second child. Both children were with adults.
The first child's mother posted video on TikTok to warn others. Authorities have not released the arrested man's identity.
