Authorities arrested Lazaro Nunez-Martinez, 31, on Sunday in connection with an alleged armed kidnapping and robbery during a phone sale in Miami-Dade County. He faces charges including kidnapping with a weapon, grand theft and tampering.
An arrest report says the victim bought an iPhone from a seller contacted through Facebook Marketplace on Sept. 28. Weeks later, the seller offered more phones and arranged to meet outside the victim’s apartment building.
At that meeting, the victim approached a BMW and saw another person inside who allegedly pointed a gun at his head and ordered him into the car. The victim told detectives he tried to escape as the car moved but was pulled back. He later threw about $4,000 toward bushes, got out and ran. One of the suspects stopped to retrieve the money before they fled, according to the arrest report.
Detectives met with the victim on Friday and used the seller’s phone number to identify Nunez-Martinez, the report says.
