A man died after a shooting involving Phoenix police on Saturday afternoon near Central Avenue and Roeser Road.
Officers had responded to a report of a person walking around an apartment complex with a gun and a knife. Police said officers repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapons and used less-lethal PepperBall rounds. They said he did not comply and raised his gun toward officers before the shooting.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division was expected to take over the investigation.
