Clark Atlanta University has been awarded $9,784,632 in federal funding to expand its science and technology programs, U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock announced.
The grant is part of a $97.1 million investment through the Department of Defense’s program for historically Black colleges and universities and minority-serving institutions. Clark Atlanta and nine other institutions are receiving funding intended to help them reach Research One status, the highest classification for research activity in U.S. higher education.
For Clark Atlanta, that goal would give students and faculty access to advanced laboratory equipment, defense-related technical courses and research fellowships on campus. Warnock said the investment would expand opportunities for future scientists.
