The Atlanta Dream will host the Golden State Valkyries at State Farm Arena for Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals, giving more fans a chance to attend.
The league moved Game 3 of the best-of-seven series to Wednesday, Oct. 21, and set Game 4 for 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, Oct. 24—2½ hours earlier than planned. The series opens Saturday in California.
The schedule changes avoid a Sombr concert at the arena on Oct. 22 and the Atlanta Hawks’ home opener there on the night of Oct. 24. State Farm Arena seats more than 17,000, compared with 3,500 at the Dream’s usual home, Gateway Center Arena.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said the larger venue would let thousands more fans attend. It will be the first WNBA Finals game in the Atlanta market since 2013.
