All southbound lanes of Highway 101 between Seventh and 17th streets in San Francisco will close at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, and reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19. The closure covers 1.2 miles near Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital; northbound lanes will remain open.
The shutdown is the third weekend closure in Caltrans’ ongoing work on the Hospital Curve, I-280, the Central Freeway and 19th Avenue. Caltrans public information officer Lori Shepherd warned of substantial delays on detours and nearby city streets, not just along the highway.
Drivers heading from the East Bay or North Bay toward the Peninsula, South Bay or San Francisco International Airport could be particularly affected. Saturday travel through the city may also be complicated by the Golden State Valkyries’ WNBA finals game at Chase Center.
