The Tampa Bay Buccaneers earned their first win of the season Thursday night, beating the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on the road. Bucky Irving ran for a career-high 165 yards and scored twice.
Irving’s 72-yard run set up the touchdown that put Tampa Bay ahead. Rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels also threw a first-half touchdown pass to Irving and finished 19 of 25 for 189 yards in his second NFL start. Daniels is filling in for Baker Mayfield, who is expected to miss at least one more game because of a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand.
Dak Prescott led a 99-yard Cowboys drive capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass to George Pickens in the fourth quarter. But Prescott’s second interception, on a tipped pass, helped Tampa Bay secure the win in the final two minutes. The Buccaneers played without a turnover while Dallas made several mistakes.
