Amos Kipruto won his first Chicago Marathon title in 2026, while Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa defended the women’s crown.
Feysa, 27, finished in 2:13:33, cutting nearly a minute and a half from her personal best. Kenya’s Sharon Lokedi placed second in 2:14:07, more than three minutes faster than her previous best. Brigid Kosgei, also of Kenya, was third in 2:14:55.
Feysa and Lokedi reached halfway alongside Kosgei and Loice Chemnung before pulling clear. Lokedi tried to move ahead with about a mile left, but Feysa surged past her and ran the final mile in five minutes.
The race took place on a warm, humid Sunday in Chicago. Feysa said afterward that wind and a pacer’s earlier-than-planned departure left her confident she could run under 2:13 in the future.
